COACHING VS. THERAPY

WHAT IS COACHING?

WHAT IS THERAPY/COUNSELLING?

The ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential. I like to say it is having outstanding conversations centred around powerful questions that help people move forward in any sphere of their life.

Therapy and Counselling share a number of the same skills as coaching (a safe environment, active listening, non-judgment) aimed towards a different purpose. They are generally present and past focused with the aim of healing. You may choose to engage both a therapist and a coach, or use them both at different times in your life for these different aims.
